With a focus on population health, research at the School of Dentistry focuses on improving oral health for the communities we serve and beyond. This includes using critical thinking, evidence- or outcomes-based clinical decision-making, and technology-based information retrieval systems. Residents participate in treatment planning seminars and give Grand Rounds presentations. Specifically, the program is intended to enhance the resident’s confidence and competence in performing all aspects of general dentistry. Residents receive clinical training in removable and fixed prosthodontics, periodontics, operative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, dental implantology, orthodontics and research. The GPR enjoys participation in the largest OR dental rehabilitation program for special needs patients in the country, with an average of eighty cases managed per resident.
